It was my birthday and I was looking forward to my party. It was being thrown in my honor, just for me, and my family was coming. It had been years since I last saw my family and I remember the day I left home clearly. I remember leaving home and telling my parents that within 10 years, on my 30th birthday, I would be ready. I would be ready to join my family and carry on the legacy. I would be ready to take over the world.

I had spent hours getting ready for my party. My skin was glowing and my heart had been beating with anticipation all day. The party was going to be held far from prying eyes, in a large warehouse facility on the outskirts of town. Everyone was planning to fly in for the party and guests were scheduled to arrive at any moment. I jumped on my bike and sped to the location eager to show off my hard earned skills and talents I  mastered in the past 10 years. And today was the day I would come face to face with my family and show them I was ready.

As soon as  I pulled into the warehouse I saw the vehicles belonging to my family. Huge, imposing spacecrafts were hovering over the grounds. I immediately recognized the one belonging to my father, as if I never left. I jumped off my primitive motorcycle and ran inside the warehouse. Inside I ripped off my cape and exposed my glowing skin. Everyone was in awe of just how much I had grown. My spikes had grown in beautifully and I was truly a woman. My mothers bronze spikes had grown in at the age of 28, as did mine, and she was known throughout the kingdom for her deadly legs. One kick from her and her ankles spikes would effortlessly divorce a mans head from his body.

My spikes were even better. I had gold spikes, a rarity throughout the kingdom, growing across both my hips and ankles. I was truly a warrior, a deadly soldier ready to earn her reputation. And tonight was my special night. It was my 30th birthday, the night my family had waited for. Their first born would be ready to join the legacy and tonight we were going to do it….

We were planing to take over the planet. Earth would be ours in under two days. Everyone sharped their spikes, got their weapons ready in their spacecrafts and all of us were eager with anticipation to dominate the planet. It would truly be the best birthday I have ever had and I couldn’t wait to finally get to wear my spikes in all their glory. I couldn’t wait to show the people of earth my spikes….and their deaths.

I was never the type of girl who liked to travel in crowds. I like to make an entrance, make a statement. Most importantly, I like to work on my own.
I went out to work on Thursday needing money for my upcoming trip to the Canary Islands. I was planning on shopping the next day and needed my paycheck. I got my mind ready to strategize, to focus, and to land my sales pitch effortlessly.

I met my client right outside her building onWall Street. She was dressed like a million dollars, looking like a bottle of fine wine. I followed her as she stepped into some stores to do some shopping during her lunch hour. We went to try on some shoes. She had six pairs which she liked and I encouraged her to try them on as I sat on the bench next to her waiting for the sales woman to see if they had a pair of sandals in my size.

The longer I sat next to her the more I encouraged her to try a variety of sexy heels. The saleswoman breathlessly walked back and forth to get the right shoes and the right fit, knowing that this woman was here to spend some money. She narrowed it down to three pairs and began walking the length of the store to see which one fit. All eyes were on her as each foot delicately hit the ground with her perfectly manicured foot inside.

My cell phone rang just then and I stepped outside to take the call. I had to turn the corner fast as I couldn’t hear with all the noise outside and found a nice quiet little alley. I opened my jacket and pulled out my latest “purchase”. The well dressed woman’s purse was inside with credit cards, $500 in cash, three gift cards and ID. I ran to the piers and took a water taxi into Brooklyn. My colleague was waiting for, me money in hand, to purchase my new found goods. I removed the $500 dollars in cash and gave him the rest. I had quite the assortment and it fetched me just enough to enjoy my weekend on the Canary Islands.

My feet were hurting and I had been exhausted from working long hours all week. A long weekend was just what I need and I was looking forward to laying on the beach with a drink in hand.

I got a call last night to meet him at the bar at 8 pm. He would be wearing a black suit with a red handkerchief. I was instructed to be dress to kill. This was not a problem.

I went to the rendezvous point and saw him. Leaning against the bar scanning the crowd for a woman with dark hair and a killer smile. We laughed, drank, and danced. We shared some spins around the dance floor and it was then time to leave. I said I would get our jackets and meet him outside.

When we got outside I playfully wouldn’t let him have his jacket until we turned the corner. It was a small street and he drew close to me. I reached into my clutch bag and pulled out my gun and quickly attached my silencing muzzle. His body immediately fell limp against me.

I noticed the river below us and flung his body in the water. I threw his jacket in after him. I had what I needed from his pockets… the list of swiss bank accounts belonging to his corporation.

The moonlight glistened off the water and it looked almost romantic. It was the perfect way to end my date.

One of the great ways that WordPress has inspired me is by giving me the chance to showcase all the great fashion photography that is part of the process of selling my fashion designs. The most fun for me is creating a whole different look for myself based on the style I am selling.
Its been great to be so inspired and even better to get to express myself on so many different venues with so many different sides of myself.

This is a snapshot of my webstore, www.OrReet.etsy.com.  You can see there are lots of different looks going on here.
The first picture in the top row was the most fun I had. I went for the lazy – housewife – who – was – out – clubbing – all – night  look. I wore  a wig and blue and red lipstick and had some great photography done. The full range of pictures can be found here.
Then I did the next listing going for an 80s roller derby look. I put on some blue lipstick, roller skates,  gave myself an 80s hairstyle  and had a blast! The full listing is here.
One of other favorites is found in the second row where I went for a zombie theme for the hooded halter dress. I felt like queen of the night in that dress!

But I think my ultimate favorite is in the third row (second picture), where I went for a punk military look. You can see I am wearing a pink wig and am barely recognizable as my typical curly haired funky chick. I called them my grenade launcher pants and it just brought out that side of me! Check out the rest of the crazy shoot here.

Freedom is truly making your own clothes. Freedom is never having to go to a million stores to find the right outfit. Freedom is never having to wait in line for a fitting room.  Freedom is not being scared to look different. Freedom is feeling confident walking into a room knowing you are wearing something no one else is. Freedom is being strong enough to be your own person.

Freedom is making your own clothes, your own style, and your own rules.

About the dress:
This is one of my favorite dress to wear to work. I combined a high collar with a loose fit top and pencil skirt bottom to make a stylish dress. All I do is add a thin belt and I am ready to go. Its especially nice when I wear my hair up so I can show off the great collar.  The best part is that no one else has this dress.

I am really feeling this whole new denim trend. How fun to get away from regular, boring blue denim and have so much variety! Instead of going for the printed look, which is now in every store, I decided to do something totally different and make my own pair of unique denim.

I really love these pants as they go with everything. I decided to go for a preppy look here and paired my pants with a blazer and white T-shirt underneath. Then I threw on a pair of heels and was ready to step out the door.

These pants are so different because they actually stretch and give that perfect fit. Rather than just go for a a basic acid wash look I added gold trim to the front which completely brought out the bold design. I get so many complement on these pants and everyone asks where I got them! I’m looking forward to experimenting with a bunch of different looks  this season by seeing how it goes with different tops!

My boyfriend dumped me the night before Prom…. to take my best friend. Ex-Best Friend.

But I wasn’t angry. I baked some cookies and brought them over to his house. When he opened the door I greeted him with a big smile and the smell of chocolate wafting in. He grabbed the dish and took a huge bite. I told him it was an old family recipe. A secret recipe.

Oddly enough, no one had ever lived to tell how delicious they were. Almost as soon as the thought entered my mind he started convulsing and foaming at the mouth. I smiled as he called the police. I wasn’t worried. He finally stopped convulsing and the door bell rang. It was the police. I kicked his body out of my way and opened the door……

…I smiled and offered them a brownie. “These brownies are to die for”, I told them.

What  I love about Brooklyn is that art is everywhere.

It’s on your way to the Bodega. It’s down the stairs you use to throw out your garbage. It’s on the road you take to get on the subway.

It’s on the shirt you wore. It’s there in the way you matched your sneakers to your outfit. It’s there in how you perfectly cut your shirt to add some style. It’s there…..

It’s everywhere you go. It’s always with you and within you.

This is one of my favorite shirts and can be found here

I never go home after work when I wear this dress. I just love to collect my complements! Its always a crowd pleaser, so last week I decided to stop by the farmers market on my way home after work.

I met up with my friend and we walked around. Right away someone came up to me and told me they liked my dress. My friend told me it looked so retro, yet so high fashion. I told her it must be the high collar style that everyone likes and she told me that it must be the checkered pattern…or maybe how great the dress fits me! lol

She asked me where I got the dress, so I had to let her in one my secret………
